Dubai’s National Day on December 2nd is more than just a public holiday; it’s a city-wide celebration of heritage, unity, and pride. From dazzling fireworks at Burj Khalifa to cultural events across neighborhoods, the UAE’s 54th birthday promises excitement around every corner.
But with the festivities come changes to daily routines. If you’re planning to get out and enjoy the celebrations, it helps to know what’s open, what’s running late, and where you can park without paying a single dirham.
Based on the latest announcement from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), here’s your full guide to navigating Salik, parking, holiday hours, and Metro travel during National Day 2025.
Yes, Salik will remain active on December 1st and 2nd, 2025.
Despite free parking being offered across most zones, Salik toll gates will continue to charge AED 4 per passage. There has been no official announcement of toll suspension, so if you drive through any of the seven Salik points, including Al Garhoud Bridge, Business Bay Crossing, or Sheikh Zayed Road, you’ll be charged as usual.
This is important for renters too: if you’re driving a rental car, make sure you understand your agency’s policy on Salik charges. Some include it in the package; others pass the cost directly to you. Either way, ensure your account is topped up or that the system logs your plate correctly to avoid fines later.
One of the best perks of National Day? Free public parking citywide.
The RTA has confirmed that all public parking zones will be free on Monday, December 1st, and Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025. This includes street parking, surface lots, and shaded spaces across popular areas like Downtown, JBR, City Walk, La Mer, and Dubai Marina.
However, there are two key exceptions:
So while you can park freely along the Corniche or near parks and beaches, don’t assume all garages are included. Arrive early regardless, popular spots fill up fast, even when they’re free.
Regular paid parking tariffs resume on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025.
Most government services and affiliated offices will be closed for the holiday:
That means no vehicle inspections, licensing, or documentation processing during the break. Plan ahead if you need these services.
The good news? Smart Customer Happiness Centres at Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Twar, and RTA Head Office will remain open 24/7, offering digital access to essential services for emergencies or urgent needs.
To support smooth mobility during the festivities, the RTA has adjusted public transport timings.
Perfect for late-night fireworks viewing or avoiding post-event traffic. The extended service makes it easy to reach Downtown, Dubai Mall, and other celebration hubs without worrying about timing.
Ideal for accessing Blue waters, Ain Dubai, and Palm Jumeirah with ease.
Bus schedules may vary during the holiday period. For real-time updates and route adjustments, use the S’hail app, the official RTA tool for tracking bus arrivals, planning trips, and checking service alerts.
Marine transport services, including abras and ferries, will also operate on adjusted schedules, supporting movement across Creek and coastal points.
From flag-raising ceremonies to drone shows and live performances, Dubai will host events across the city. Popular spots include:
Wear the national colors, bring the family, and soak in the spirit of Eid Al Etihad.
National Day is a time for joy, reflection, and connection. But the last thing you want is to miss the fireworks because of parking stress or a closed metro line.
With free parking, extended Metro hours, and smart planning, you can focus on what matters, celebrating the UAE’s journey and shared future.
